What can we tell you that you do not already know? The world as we know it has recently been turned upside down due to COVID-19, the Coronavirus. This disease is overwhelming the globe as governments and the international medical community seek to stop the spread of COVID-19, and to produce an antibody to eradicate it. It has also caused us to improve hygiene practices and to enact Social Distancing Protocols. Some would call these Personal Space Bubbles.
We could tell you all that, but you are getting enough of that information elsewhere. But what we can tell you, is how to be encouraged in the faith. We can continue to share the truth of Scripture with you and to proclaim that God is Sovereign. There is no virus, no act of war, no social upheaval, not anything that takes Him by surprise!
We can also tell you that we are seeking to reach the church in many different ways that we have not in the past. While at our fingertips and at our disposal, maybe we have not used all the avenues that God has opened for us to better serve you, and the community that we live in. So Grace, here is another way that we are seeking to reach out to you as we seek to shepherd you as best we can, The GBC Blog.
Who? Who will be sharing?
Simple answer, the Church Staff. You’ll hear from Joey Lang (Lead Pastor), Richard Hays (Worship Pastor), Russell Watts (Associate Pastor), and Morgan Walterman (Children’s Director). While much of what is shared in this format will come from Richard or myself, Joey and Morgan will be seen on Facebook more often than not, we will invite Joey and Morgan to share here as well.
What? What will be shared?
That answer is not as simple, but not too hard either. You may get:
- a short devotion,
- a book review or recommendation,
- a word study,
- an in depth, but short discussion on a theological topic,
- lyrics to a song and the theological foundations and/or history of that song,
- a This Day in History that focuses on something that happened on that day in the history of the Church,
- highlights from interviews with Ministry Leaders,
- insight to upcoming GraceKIDS events,
- or a look ahead at upcoming sermon series.
Whatever is shared, you know it will be good.
Why? Why will we be sharing?
It’s what we are called to do. Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:11-12 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,”. (ESV) As Christ has called, as we have been equipped, we will use all the resources at our disposal to minister to Grace.
